The voting ended on February 10, 2006 and the benefactor of this GIFT GUITAR was selected. Today we begin our second week on the project. Thanks to Michael Payne in Odessa Texas for leading the charge. Post any notes of progress here during the week. This will provide Lance a running update with which to pull info for the WebPages he will build documenting the OLF's Second Guitar Project. Plus it will show everyone our continuing progress. I'm still waiting on linings. I think I can get on the back right away, get it all carved up and have it waiting when the linings get here. Bruce, you're one heck of a good whip cracker! Keep it up. |

I thought I saw linings? Spruce and Spanish Cedar in one of the pics. Whip cracker? Nah, that's Michael's job. Hey, did you see Lance's Early Webpages? That is the idea behind the Weekly Updates. If Lance gets busy and unavailable for a while he can easily catch up by looking at each week's posts. Someone mentioned a journal, that's what it is an online journal for us to use. Lance is doing a final product Webpage Documentation. |

Top Plan arrived. Thanks Michael. I need a dimension from the neck block to the center of the soundhole? Anyone got that and could check my measuring of the plan. I'm getting just a hair over 5 7/8" measured. Also what is the scale length of this guitar. I want to be sure and hit dead on with the bridge plate. |

Well, I can, but I don't have a plan that says where they go. Is this one of those guitars that's littered with them or are there just a few? |

I don't know, just occurred there might be some. The only guitar I ever saw that split up the side end to end was mahogany. The grain on this appears varied though due to the figure. Use your own judgement. Oops, I just remembered an Indian Rosewood Boat that fell over in the shop. It cracked up the side for ten inches right through the waist. So I Know that one has side braces. I had an SJ pomele sapele in my hands a little while ago, it has no side braces. I wonder if I forgot or just decided not to put them in? Dunno.... slept since then. |

Purfling made it in 22 pieces. Three are about long enough, so I'll go down and try to build a rosette. Where can I buy some if this isn't long enough? This is french style. I have cello purfling that looks very similar, the bwb are different thickness? |

10:35 PM Just finished squaring up the abalone with a little jig. Looks nice. DePaule gives you an extra inch. Plus, if the fretboard covers, there is where some less dramatic pieces can go. This pearl is fine. 23 Feb 06 |
